The past few days have been quite warm here in the city of Sin. With temperatures nearing and exceeding 100 degrees, Las Vegans have feared this means a brutal summer may be in store. As a New Yorker, I am used to April being a transition month; a celebration of spring, and sometimes illustrating the remnants of winter with one or two final snow storms.
For me, I am never ready for summer. Born a Libra on the last day in September, I identify with autumn and all her glorious colors of fallen leaves. I long for that moment with the air turns brisk and definable; you can almost smell winter coming. My creativity is at an all-time high, and I feel most at ease with temperatures in the 50s and 60s. This doesn't necessarily mean I am less creative in the summer, but my motivation exists only to lounge by the pool and enjoy a nice breeze upon my chlorine-soaked skin.
So as I get ready for the blaring sun and oven hot weather, I mentally prepare myself. Visualizing the weather before it arrives does help, and as we pass over this mini heat wave, a cooler reprieve is welcomed. It gives me time to pull out the summer clothes and stock up on SPF 100. Who knows, maybe this year I will find myself an interesting sun hat. I will continue to re-invent myself, even if I am sweating off a layer or two.

Ewww. I'm melting in my chair just reading your blog entry! LOL I visited Las Vegas in the month of July and I swear I've never ever felt such heat like that before! Florida is a bit different, there, it's mainly humidity. Blah. I'm a New Yorker as well. :)
Hi there! It's nice to meet other NY'ers! :) Thanks for visiting my blog!
